Maribor

From January 2nd to March 1st the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., will host an intern from the University of Limburg in the context of the project Art Neighbourhood. This is part of the broader strategy of the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., to connect with public institutions throughout Europe and work together on project related to science, art, culture, youth, social entrepreneurship etc.

Nicky Cionoiu is an active student with a wide array of experience from the fields of art, education, youth work and political activism. He will join us in Maribor and work with us on many meaningful projects and thus gain knowledge and experience. You are invited to read his description below and get to meet him:

“I’m Nicky Cionoiu, half Romanian and half Belgian but living in Belgium. My age is 22 and currently I’m studying teacher of arts. My interests lay mostly in music, youth work and politics. Besides those three, I have also other interests, but too much to mention right now! Some people call me an old soul, because I’m really into the atmosphere of the 40’s and 50’s, a very intriguing time to live in.

I would describe myself as a creative centipede. I know it’s a weird comparison, but I have thought about this one. The centipede is not a deepened expert in every discipline of the arts, but he has a know-how of each discipline. The legs are a metaphor for the various types of arts. I love to write, draw, create music and play theater. Theatre I have studied professional, last year I got my degree at the conservatory in Hasselt. For me, the two most important things about arts are the connection with 1) education and 2) society. When you realise a project or something alike integrated with these connections, you will get an interesting mix in my opinion. The last thing I wanted to mention is that we live on earth, obvious of course. But what happens when we live on earth without art? Indeed, earth without art would be just “eh”. Good to keep in mind.”
