12 – 30 October, 2016
House of Architecture, Graz, Austria

On Wednesday, 12 October 2016, at 19:00, the exhibition “Bratstvo i Jedinstvo” (Brotherhood and Unity) was opened at the House of Architecture in Graz.

The Austrian branch of EPEKA, in cooperation with the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., organised the exhibition “Brotherhood and Unity” (Brüderlichkeitund Einheit) at the House of Architecture in Graz as part of the famous Graz cultural festival Styria Autumn.

At the time of the foundation of the “Steirischer Herbst” (Styrian Autumn) festival, almost fifty years ago, the term Trigon was coined. It represents the cultural and artistic exchange between Yugoslavia, Austria and Italy. After the break-up of Yugoslavia, deregulation became increasingly visible in the region. The exhibition “Bratstvo i Jedinstvo” shows this transformation. Likewise, other city projects (and the projects that emerged from them), as well as the missing ones, as well as various debates, or even “protest culture” are a thematic area that is often reworked and interpreted by Austrian and Serbian artists. What is the impact of this kind of dynamics in cities like Belgrade and Graz? And what are the recent trends of restricting entry into a hitherto outwardly open geographical community?

The exhibition is curated by Michael Petrowitsch, President of EPEKA Austria
