14 – 21 August, 2016
Istanbul, Turkey

The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., is a partner in the EUROMED Express ˝16: Social Entrepreneurship and Culture of Peace. The project will take place from 14 to 21 August in Istanbul.

Many European and Mediterranean countries will participate in the project, including Slovenia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Palestine, Italy, Lebanon, Jordan, Hungary, Macedonia, Serbia, Egypt, Tunisia and Albania, along with the host country Turkey.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The year 2015 started with marked political imbalances and radical socio-economic changes in the EU and Mediterranean countries, resulting from democratic transitions, humanitarian crises, a dramatic increase in cross-border migration flows and tensions arising from complex processes of socio-cultural inclusion. The current economic crisis is particularly affecting young people in all EU countries. The processes of social transformation taking place in the EU countries and in its Mediterranean partners require greater capacity of individuals and communities. There is a need to work together to build a more equitable social fabric in a world of growing interdependence.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

The main objective of the project is to encourage a new generation of young workers to become active citizens, as they can play a key role in the sustainable development of communities. The project also aims to bring about concrete social change in Euro-Mediterranean societies in transition.

The specific objectives are:

  • To equip youth workers with knowledge, useful skills and creative tools for teaching peace and social entrepreneurship that can be integrated into their work with young people.
  • Promote social entrepreneurship as a tool for social change and sustainable development.
  • Develop a cross-cultural understanding of different youth work experiences in European and Mediterranean countries.
  • To facilitate networking opportunities and partnerships between youth workers and organisations in EU and Mediterranean countries.
