9 – 15 February, 2015
Sinop, Turkey

The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., is participating as a partner organisation in the Youth Exchange “For-Ex” or For Exchange for short, which will take place in Sinop, Turkey, from 9 to 15 February 2015.

The training will bring together 33 youth workers from Macedonia, Cyprus, Georgia, Slovenia, Italy, Bulgaria, Armenia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Russia. Participants will develop their competences in the field of work involving intercultural education and learning processes, and will expose and create tools to promote mutual understanding, cultural diversity, European citizenship and active participation of young people in youth exchanges.

Youth education objectives outlined:

  • Reflecting on one’s own cultural identity.
  • To create a reflection of how others see us.
  • To highlight the need for cultural sensitivity and mutual understanding.
  • To experience intercultural conflict management: discrimination and xenophobia.
  • Define and identify common elements of intercultural competences.
  • Improve the quality of youth exchanges.
  • Equip participants with new skills to create their own tools for intercultural learning.
  • Measure the impact of the tools.
  • Monitor new youth exchanges.

It is recommended that participants have at least one experience as a youth exchange leader.
The working language of the exchange is English, but less proficiency in the language is not a barrier to participation, but an incentive for active communication and skills development.
The costs of accommodation, meals and the programme are covered by the activity organiser or the host organisation. The proportion of travel costs reimbursed per participant from Slovenia is fixed for a distance of 500 km to 1999 km.

The host organisation Eğitim Programları ve Evrensel ve Kültürel Aktiviteler Derneği EPEKA is an NGO from Sinop, Turkey.
EPEKA Slovenia, EPEKA Austria and EPEKA Armenia Youth Group are its sister organisations.
The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., is supported by the Municipality of Maribor, the Youth Office of the Republic of Slovenia, the EU Erasmus+ Programme and EU Culture
