20 – 21 June, 2016
Brussels, Belgium

The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., took part in the conference “Hope for Europe! – Culture, Cities and New Narratives”, organised by the Various Interest Groups of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). The conference took place on 20 and 21 June 2016 at the EESC in Brussels.

The conference was devoted to discussing the answers to the questions:

How can culture and cities help build hope and new narratives for Europe? What value should we place on culture? What role can art and culture play in expressing and consolidating Europe’s identity and relations with its neighbours? Could it be time for a new Renaissance, a new Europe?

The conference provided an opportunity to explore how, why and when culture matters in today’s Europe. Four main themes were explored:

  • Culture as a means for economic growth.
  • Culture as an instrument for regenerating cities and territories.
  • Culture as a tool for integration and inclusion.
  • Transforming European identity inside and outside Europe.
