13 May – 4 June, 2016
EPEKA Gallery, Maribor

On Friday, 13 May 2016, at 6 pm, we opened an exhibition by Maribor artist Stojan Grauf at the EPEKA Gallery.

Stojan Grauf, a graduate of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, is today a well-known Maribor artist. He is known as a master of drawing, which is of primary importance for the creation of any work of art. This time he presents himself with drawings on paper which, as the title of the exhibition suggests, are inscribed with text from the story Murder in the Cottage by the Czech writer Karel Čapek. The described landscape, which also deepens the subject matter, is an extremely complex expressive and perceptual artistic field, within which there are many different interpretations. It is true that it is something quite subjective, i.e. the gaze of the Other, but it is precisely because of the experienced interpretation of the depicted and “inventoried” landscape that the observer is all the more obviously attracted to it and is also objectively persuaded to immerse himself in it.

The exhibition was on view until 4 June 2016.

Gallery opening hours: Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm.
