Nysted, Denmark

We’re happy to announce that the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., is a partner in a project United Europe, which is going to take place in Nysted, Denmark.

The idea for the United Europe project has arisen in the wake of the growing anti-EU movement in Europe, and the desire to raise awareness among young Europeans about the EU and Erasmus +. Studies have shown that EU countries’ populations have expressed that they do not know enough about the EU project and what possibilities exist under EU auspices. The latest report was commissioned on behalf of the European Commission had shown that 34% of citizens across the member countries not feel say as EU citizens. We want to create a platform for young Europeans, where they have the opportunity to discuss both while getting to learn about their “own” European Union and Erasmus +. They will express what it means to be an European citizen, become aware of the opportunities the EU and Erasmus + has to offer them and become ambassadors for the EU once the project is over. Therein they will, through dialogue and acquaintance with other participants, understand what are the causes of anti-EU movement, why Brexit happened and how to deal with the anti-EU movement.

The goal of the project is that participants must embrace the EU for then to “live out” their inner EU in their local and regional networks, so they spread a positive image of the EU. The first tangible goal is a manifesto created by the young people themselves, how they determine what values they think the EU should consist of. The second is a video where all participants are allowed to film something that they believe can be used to show the possibilities in the EU and Erasmus + auspices.
