The representatives of the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., will actively take part at the confernce of the project Predis, which will take place in the ZRC Atrium (Novi trg 2).

Six million young people (between the ages of 18 and 24) in the European Union doesn’t finish their vocational training or other secondary education. Consequentially, these young people face unemployment, which has a negative impact on the social and economic development of the state. That is especially true for the immigrants and Roma, who also face discrimination transitioning from the primary to the secondary education. Strategic framework for European Cooperation in education and training 2020 set a goal, to reduce school dropping out under 10% until 2020. European project PREDIS supported this goal and contributed to its success. PREDIS is a future-oriented strategy which strives to improve social and economic participation of the young immigrants and Roma. The project focuses on the reduction of dropping out of vocational training and improving transitivity from primary school to secondary vocational training and from secondary school to employment. In cooperation with the teachers, programme planners, experts who work with youth, agencies for employment and employers we have developed innovative pedagogic programmes and methods. We have sent the newest information in the field to the secondary school teachers of the vocational training and other experts in the field of education and upbringing, to enable them the blended learning course.

The finishing conference of the international project Predis, which involves consortium of five European partners on a local, city, state and international level, is intended to present the final intellectual result of the three-year-long project. The project has connected representations of the contemporary methods for better transition to the vocational training and the strategy of empowerment and inclusion for immigrants and Roma with the new and innovative approaches for successful inclusion to the labour market of various education organisations.

The lecture “The Informal Education of the Young representatives of the Roma society” will be held by Jerica Lorenci.
