The Association EPEKA is organising a lecture on democratic decision-making and co-management in EPEKA – a housing cooperative for all, as part of the EPEKA – a housing cooperative for all project.
Many advanced Western liberal societies are characterised by tensions between individual freedom and collective social justice. These tensions are reflected in the challenges that participatory democratic practices and the current emphasis on (so-called) responsible participation pose for representative democracy. The case of ‘community’ housing associations is a case in point – that ‘community’ housing associations in particular offer a basis for relatively more inclusive and effective decision-making processes than municipal housing, which relies for its legitimacy on traditional processes and institutions of representative local government.
EPEKA – Housing Cooperatives for All, is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport, within the Public Call for proposals for the promotion of the development of cooperative and social economy projects 2023-2024.
