We are delighted to announce that Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., is a partner in Erasmus+ Project called ” Connect the dots – How to work on the concept of intersectionality through Pop Culture.”<\/p>\n

Can we use a Lady Gaga Videoclip to make a point about global issues? Can we start debating power relations in our societies after watching a Netflix show? Can we recognize a situation of double discrimination through the lenses of a comic book’s character? We believe so, yes!<\/p>\n

Over the past three years, we focused on researching, adapting, and testing elements of the Pop Culture as a source of learning within non-formal education and global education frameworks: with this project we would like to share this process with other youth workers, focusing on the concept of intersectionality (Kimberl\u00e9 Williams Crenshaw, 1989) and its value within youth participation activities.<\/p>\n

We will explore the connections between oppressions and experiences of people depending on their identities (according to gender, sex, sexuality, race, class, ability, nationality, citizenship, religion, body type,…) and what this means during one’s life experience.<\/p>\n

We believe that these tools could really help reshape our activities and well represent the complexity of today’s world, fomenting debate and growth within younger generations while being captivating and fun at the same time. After all, “if we can’t see a problem, we can’t fix a problem” right?<\/p>\n
