The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., offers the opportunity to do socially useful work.<\/p>\n
The people who join us to perform socially useful work, with the support of mentors, carry out various tasks, help with the implementation of the programme activities of the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., help with the maintenance of the premises we manage, help with the installation of exhibitions in the EPEKA Gallery, etc. We prepare the programme for the participant on an individual level, define in advance the tasks and obligations that performing socially useful work entails, keep records and help with the preparation of the final report.<\/p>\n
Socially useful work, or work for the general benefit, means work for the benefit of the local community, humanitarian organisations and other organisations carrying out non-profit work. It is an alternative to imprisonment, as an option in a settlement procedure or in a deferred prosecution procedure. A person who has been convicted of an offence and fined may apply to the court to have the payment of the fine replaced by the performance of a specific task for the general benefit or for the benefit of a self-governing local community. A sentence of imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, except in the case of an offence against sexual integrity, may also be enforced by the person performing work of general utility in lieu of imprisonment. The court shall decide on the execution of a sentence of imprisonment imposed in the manner indicated. The public prosecutor may also, with the consent of the injured party, suspend the prosecution if the suspect is willing to comply with the public prosecutor’s instructions and is willing to perform certain tasks to reduce or eliminate the harmful consequences of the offence. One of the tasks that the public prosecutor may impose is community service. The performance of community service, which is a substitute for the payment of a fine or imprisonment sentence by the court or is imposed by the public prosecutor, shall be prepared, managed and supervised by the social work centre competent under the social welfare legislation.<\/p>\n
