{"id":30121,"date":"2018-01-21T12:23:28","date_gmt":"2018-01-21T12:23:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/epeka.si\/?p=30121"},"modified":"2023-12-15T15:29:19","modified_gmt":"2023-12-15T15:29:19","slug":"lecture-slovenian-roma-in-auschwitz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epeka.si\/en\/lecture-slovenian-roma-in-auschwitz\/","title":{"rendered":"Lecture Slovenian Roma in Auschwitz"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">29 January, 2018<br \/>\nMaribor<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We invite you to attend a lecture on the Slovenian Roma in Auschwitz, which will take place on 29 January at the Roma Station on Preradovi\u010deva Street 1 in Maribor.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There is no place in the world more marked by death: during the period of Auschwitz&#8217;s operation from 1940 to 1945, around 1.1 million people were killed there, including 1 million Jews, or one in six of the 6 million Jews killed in the Holocaust. It is for this reason that the date of the liberation of Auschwitz was chosen as Holocaust Memorial Day. Auschwitz is also the camp to which 2 342 people from Slovenia were sent and the place of death of 1 331 of them. Most of them were Slovenes and Slovene Jews. Knowledge of their suffering is well known in the Slovenian public, although still not enough. Almost nothing is known in the Slovenian public about the suffering of the 77 Roma from the vicinity of Novo mesto who were transported to Auschwitz in December 1943. According to the information gathered so far, all but six of them probably died in Auschwitz. The remaining six died in other German camps. The lecture &#8220;Slovenian Roma in Auschwitz&#8221; is dedicated to them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Activity time: 18.00 &#8211; 20.30.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Participation is free of charge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">More information: <a href=\"mailto:epeka@epeka.si\">epeka@epeka.si<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eu-skladi.si\/\">EU Funds<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project is partly funded by the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities and the European Union through the European Social Fund.
