The event will take place on Mariborski otok, which is part of Natura 2000; the European Union&#8217;s nature protection network and one of the largest conservation areas in the world. United Nations declared August 12 as International Youth Day in 1999, dedicated to discussing various youth-related issues and highlighting their significant role in society. This year&#8217;s theme for International Youth Day is &#8220;Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World,&#8221; and at EPEKA, social enterprise, we named our event &#8220;<strong>Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today, the world is embarking on a path of green transition. Transitioning to an environmentally sustainable and climate-friendly world is not only essential to respond to the global climate crisis but also to achieve sustainable development goals. A successful transition to a greener world will depend on the development of green knowledge and skills among the population. Green skills are &#8220;the knowledge, abilities, values, and attitudes needed to live in a sustainable and resource-efficient society, contributing to its development and supporting it.&#8221; The green transition is expected to create 8.4 million jobs for young people by 2030. Young people need to be well-equipped with green skills to navigate this changing environment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>International Youth Day Program:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">9:00<\/span> <strong>By bus to Mariborski otok<\/strong> (meeting at Maribor bus station, hop on bus number 8, which will take us to Mariborski otok)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">9.30<\/span> <strong>Morning Fair trade coffee on Mariborski otok<\/strong> and listening to bird songs<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">10:00<\/span> <strong>Presentation of scholarships for deficit occupations for the school year 2023\/2024<\/strong>, announced by the Public Scholarship, Development, Disability, and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">10:30<\/span> <strong>Presentation of the deficit occupation forester\/forestress<\/strong> by a representative of the Maribor Regional Unit of the Institute of Forests<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">11:00<\/span> <strong>Tour of Mariborski otok<\/strong> and guided tour through the eyes of a forester<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">12:00<\/span> <strong>SEID Project Workshop<\/strong> on green social entrepreneurship with students from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Professor Dr. Toma\u017e De\u017eelan and Assistant Professor Karolina Babi\u010d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">13:00<\/span> <b>Vegan Stew<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">14:00<\/span> <strong>Kayak Ride<\/strong> (rafts) from Cape Mariborski otok to Pristan<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The event is free of charge.
