On 27 January, the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Maribor Synagogue, in cooperation with partner organisations, once again prepares a series of cultural events and commemorative ceremonies.<\/p>\n

As part of the project \u0160oa \u2013 Let Us Remember 2026<\/em>, these events will take place from the beginning of January until mid-February 2026 across Slovenia and will be dedicated to preserving historical memory, fostering understanding, and strengthening the values of tolerance and solidarity.<\/p>\n Within this framework, the EPEKA Association and the Loli Luludi Association are organising the event Roma Soul Food \u2013 screening of short films<\/strong> on Wednesday, 28 January 2026<\/strong>, at Center Rog (Studio 14)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Four short films produced within the Roma Soul Food<\/em> project will be presented. The films have significant cultural, educational, and social value, highlighting the importance of the Roma community\u2019s presence in contemporary society and contributing to the understanding and recognition of Roma cultural heritage. Through personal stories of individuals, the films reveal how food is intrinsically connected to family, community, childhood, holidays, as well as experiences of scarcity, solidarity, and the intergenerational transfer of knowledge.<\/p>\n The interviews presented in the films are based on personal memories and experiences and do not merely document recipes or dishes, but rather offer a broader insight into the meaning of food as a bearer of identity, memory, and community. In doing so, the films open space for reflection on the diversity of Roma experiences and life paths and emphasise the richness of cultural expressions that often remain overlooked. One of the key objectives of the project is also to increase the visibility of Roma culture in the wider public and to contribute to reducing prejudice and stigmatisation. Through sincere and personal narratives, the films encourage empathy, understanding, and intercultural dialogue.
