In the Epeka Association, we will open our first cooperative apartment for young people <\/strong>under the auspices\u00a0 of the first European Housing Cooperative EPEKA,<\/strong> SCE,<\/strong> established in Slovenia.<\/p>\n

The event will begin with a short press conference and a tour of the apartment on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the basement meeting room at Tyr\u0161eva Street 15 in Maribor. <\/strong>The tour will be followed by a round table with experts on the topic of housing issues in Maribor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The establishment of the EPEKA Housing Cooperative brings more affordable and sustainable housing and enhances community development. Since cooperatives are not profit-making and share operating costs, they are a more affordable alternative to the traditional market. Members manage their own homes, which gives them control, encourages mutual cooperation and strengthens social cohesion. The model is successfully established worldwide \u2013 Finland controls more than 60% of the market, while international studies confirm their higher affordability, energy efficiency and higher level of ownership compared to conventional rental apartments.<\/p>\n

We believe that our model of public-private cooperatives will set a model for all future projects dealing with the housing problems of young people or housing issues in general.<\/p>\n
