We carried out the first introductory training of Roma women as part of the project From the Playground to the Community.<\/p>\n
The project “From the Playground to the Community” is an eleven-month pilot initiative of the Loli Luludi Roma Women’s Networking Association, which is designed to systemically empower young Roma women between the ages of 13 and 29. The main purpose of the project is to address the multiple discrimination that these individuals face at the intersection of gender, ethnicity and socio-economic status, which often leads to poverty and exclusion. With this project, the Association creates a safe and supportive environment in which participants develop their self-confidence, critical understanding of the world and personal autonomy.<\/p>\n
A central innovative element of the project is the use of football as a universal and culturally acceptable tool for inclusion. Football training sessions do not only serve physical activity, but also act as an entry point for building trust, group belonging and improving the mental health of the participants. In parallel with sports activities, the project includes six in-depth non-formal education workshops that focus on the topics of gender equality, human rights, the importance of education and connecting local experiences of marginalization with wider global inequalities.<\/p>\n
The project also includes active advocacy and cooperation with key national and international stakeholders, such as the Football Federation of Slovenia, the Olympic Committee of Slovenia and UEFA. Through these partnerships, the association strives to systematically recognize the potential of Roma women and create more inclusive policies. An important part of the project is also the preparation of practical guidelines for the transfer of this model to other environments, thus ensuring sustainability and the possibility of adapting the model for other vulnerable groups, including the countries of the Global South. The project concludes with an anonymous testimonial campaign and an intercultural tournament to raise awareness among the general public about the challenges of young Roma women and promote a more solidarity-based and inclusive society, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
