{"id":97501,"date":"2026-09-16T10:21:44","date_gmt":"2026-09-16T09:21:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/epeka.si\/the-truth-the-media-and-us\/"},"modified":"2026-09-16T10:22:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T09:22:10","slug":"the-truth-the-media-and-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epeka.si\/en\/the-truth-the-media-and-us\/","title":{"rendered":"The Truth, the Media and Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In cooperation with <strong>the gamingHouse<\/strong> organization,\u00a0 as part\u00a0 of the international <strong>project TRUTH4YOUTH, we <\/strong>\u00a0conducted a local workshop on the topic of digital literacy, critical thinking and strengthening resilience against disinformation.<\/p>\n<p>The event was held in accordance with the official guidelines for local workshops (WP4) and was based on the principles of non-formal learning and the Kolb cycle of experiential learning. Through interactive sets, young participants tried their hand at:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Loop and Puzzle Analysis (Module 1A):<\/strong> By solving puzzles without instructions, they learned how our brains automatically fill in missing information with their own assumptions \u2013 which we often unconsciously do when reading online news.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Comparing Media Narratives (Module 1B):<\/strong> Participants analyzed different media sources and found out how different storytelling, tone, and algorithms can affect our perception of reality.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Creating a Fake News Quiz (Module 2):<\/strong> In small groups, they designed their own challenges with real and fake headlines and photos, and practiced fake news recognition skills in a fun and competitive way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The workshop offered a safe and inclusive space where young people spoke about the challenges of the modern digital environment, such as <em>echo chambers<\/em>, the fake news trap and disinformation.
