On Wednesday, 9 June, at 18:00, we invite you to Arben Avdula’s performance at Romana Kafenava.

Formed in 2019, the band is based in Maribor and is one of the few local Romani bands to create music that fuses traditional Romani musical traditions with electronic music, keyboards, samples and highly emotive vocal segments. Although the band’s roots are firmly planted in the tradition of Balkan wedding orchestras, they are more varied in their musical expression and also closer to contemporary, often popular, musical trends than related ensembles. Within the cycle, they represent an opportunity to promote a younger local group, which has so far performed mainly in the context of the Roma community and has presented itself less frequently to a wider audience.

The concert is organised as part of the Voice of Roma series. The Voice of Roma music series presents a broad and professional overview of Roma music production in Slovenia and especially worldwide. The Voice of Roma is aimed at presenting and promoting top-quality music groups and performers working in genres that are less known to Slovenian audiences.

The event is co-financed by the Municipality of Maribor, the Erasmus+ programme, the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities and the European Social Fund.
