As part of our natural science and educational activities, a colleague of the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent.,  conducted a two-day workshop on observing and collecting mushrooms, with an emphasis on a safe, responsible and ecologically aware approach to mushroom picking.

Participants learned the basics of mycological etiquette, identifying edible and poisonous species, the medicinal properties of fungi, and their role in the forest ecosystem.

The workshop also included a night excursion aimed at observing biofluorescent fungi and other nocturnal organisms, which provided participants with a rare experience of contact with nature in an in-depth and exploratory way.

Learning about fungi did not stop at theory – participants also tasted dishes made from cultivated medicinal fungi, such as beech oyster mushrooms and fringed bearded vulture, and enjoyed a breakfast of freshly picked forest mushrooms, which were surprisingly abundant despite the dry conditions.

Such events emphasize the importance of field education, connection with nature, and a stimulating community that values biodiversity and a sustainable lifestyle.
