MC Postaja
MC Postaja will host the first of three workshops for the empowerment of young Roma, aimed at strengthening skills in the preparation, implementation and organization of community cultural events.
Participants will first learn the basic steps in planning a cultural event – from developing a concept and choosing a theme to preparing a program and promoting it. Special emphasis will be placed on incorporating elements of Roma cultural heritage, such as music, dance and cuisine, and the importance of respectful presentation to the wider public.
The practical part will take place in small groups, where young people will prepare a design for their own cultural event for the community. They will learn how to determine the target audience, choose a suitable venue, secure technical support and prepare a basic budget. The workshop will also include a public speaking exercise, which will help participants gain confidence in presenting their ideas.
We will conclude with an open discussion on how cultural events can contribute to connecting different groups and strengthening intercultural dialogue. The workshop will aim to encourage young people to take a more active role in the local environment and to give them concrete tools for independently organizing events that will highlight the richness of Roma culture.
The EPEKA youth program is co-financed by: the Youth Office of the Republic of Slovenia, the Municipality of Maribor and Erasmus+.
