MC Postaja

The second workshop as part of the youth Roma empowerment program at MC Postaja will be dedicated to the preparation and implementation of sports events in the local community.

Participants will explore how sport can serve as a tool for connecting different generations and cultural backgrounds, and how to use it to promote a healthy lifestyle.

In the introductory part, we will present examples of good practice in sports events based on inclusion and fair-play principles. Then, young people will learn the basic steps of organizing a sports day – from preparing a schedule and determining disciplines to ensuring the safety of participants and organizing volunteers. We will put special emphasis on the accessibility of events, so that those who do not usually attend sports events can be included in the activities.

In the practical part, participants will create a plan for implementing a mini sports festival, which will include a football tournament, relay races and a presentation of traditional Roma games. They will also learn the basics of promoting events through social networks and local channels.

The workshop will be designed to inspire and encourage young people to organize sports activities in the community more often, as they strengthen friendships, reduce prejudice and encourage cooperation.

The EPEKA youth program is co-financed by: the Youth Office of the Republic of Slovenia, the Municipality of Maribor and Erasmus+.
