Members of the EPEKA Association, so. p., will attend a two-day training on August 30 and 31, 2025, which will be held according to the program Mycological Association of Slovenia organizes Mushroom Society Lisička.

The training will combine theoretical and practical parts and will conclude with an exam in the field of mushroom identification. Successfully passed the exam enables the acquisition of the title of trainee determiner, which represents the first step towards professional specialization in the field of mushroom identification.

The title of trainee determiner is important for anyone who wants to delve deeper into mushroom identification – from safe mushroom collection and culinary use, to identifying poisonous species and broader environmental awareness. It is a basic level in the education system run by the Mycological Association of Slovenia, and later enables continuation of the path to higher titles, which require even more knowledge, experience and also knowledge of scientific approaches to researching the world of mushrooms.

The Association EPEKA has been developing programs in the field of environmental protection and ecological content for many years, which we also associate with fungi, as we believe that these play an important role in a sustainable future. In addition to their role in forest ecosystems, fungi are increasingly recognized as an innovative material in construction, an alternative to plastic, and even an important part of future sustainable nutrition.

By participating in this training, EPEKA members upgrade their knowledge in the field of sustainable use of natural resources, safe food, and nature conservation, which represents an important contribution to our activities in raising awareness and educating the community
