Representatives of the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., will participate in the online webinar “15-15 Mayors Energy Talk: Utrecht’s commitment to granting housing rights”. This way, Utrecht, one of the largest cities in the Netherlands, will be presented.
From skyrocketing rents to the challenge of finding a free apartment, people on low incomes, as well as the middle class, are facing a housing crisis across Europe. This emergency situation is worsening every day and creating social tensions.
However, thousands of homes in our cities are empty or underused. How can we make better use of them to combine the right to decent housing with sustainable urban development?
Utrecht – one of the largest cities in the Netherlands – is working to ensure the right to affordable and sustainable housing for all, while limiting urban sprawl. Deputy Mayor Dennis de Vries will join us for a 30-minute webinar on 1 October from 11:30 to 12:00 CET, where he will present the challenges and solutions that the municipality is implementing to address the housing crisis. Together, we will explore sufficiency solutions that limit the consumption of new resources and, in particular, urban sprawl.
