Representatives of the Association EPEKA, a social enterprise, will attend the conference “Mental health of children and young people – activating community sources of help and support”.
The conference is organized by the Development Council of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
The purpose of the consultation is to consider the possibilities of improving approaches to reducing the occurrence of mental disorders and their consequences in adulthood. Children and adolescents have difficulty coping with all the developmental tasks and risks of modern times. The result is emotional distress, which, when intensified, in many cases turns into conditions that we assign the name of mental disorders. Inadequate opportunities for processing these problems are also reflected in the phenomena of violence between children and adolescents. Many problems of children and young people are structurally conditioned, not a reflection of their personality characteristics. We advocate for strengthening community protective factors that protect mental health and psychological resilience.
