The Association EPEKA will also be holding a cycle of workshops, lectures and discussions in 2025 as part of the program Living Problems of Youth or Youth Autonomy.
The purpose of the entire program will be to facilitate the transition to adult life for young people, also by empowering them to be independent in the area of housing. The meetings will be aimed at gaining knowledge, exchanging experiences and understanding the challenges that young people face in becoming independent. Through a variety of content, we will provide young people with insight into practical procedures, financial aspects, alternative options and the broader social contexts of housing conditions.
The discussion Are municipalities and the state responsible for the housing crisis? will offer participants an insight into the role of public institutions in shaping housing policies. We will explore how state measures, local strategies and city policies affect the accessibility of housing for young people. We will address issues of non-profit rental, public construction and market regulation. Participants will reflect on whether current measures are sufficient to solve the crisis or whether a fundamental overhaul of the system is needed. We will compare the approaches of municipalities and countries abroad that have successfully reduced housing shortages among young people. The discussion will open a space for reflection on how Slovenia could strengthen its role in ensuring safe and affordable housing. Participants will be able to express their own views and proposals for improving public policies.
Due to the limited number of places, we ask you to register in advance at epeka@epeka.si or in person. The activity is co-financed by the City of Maribor and the Slovenian Youth Office.
