Roma Station

On 17 December, the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., organised the last concert of the year. The concert brought us a lot of fun with rhythms that made our heels click!

Yes, you guessed right, the main element of the event was the Roma music melos. We danced, enjoyed a glass of Štajerec and pulled up our chairs.

On Tuesday, 17 December 2019, at 19:00, we started with a free concert at Roma Station (Preradovičeva 1, 2000 Maribor). Romano Glauso is a Prekmurje band from the Roma village of Pušča near Murska Sobota, developing an original approach to Roma music. They create songs that go in the ears, from Roma ballads to the lively dance rhythms of the Roma melos. Igor Baranja – accordion, Darko Rudaš, Danilo Horvat and Milan Šarkezi – guitar, Belmondo Stojanovič – bass and double bass, Miki Horvat – drums/percussion, Kristjan Horvat – clarinet, Dušan Horvat – Vajta – voice. Dancers: audience. The concert was supported by the Municipality of Maribor.

Gallery

The concert was accompanied by the opening of the exhibition at 18:00. The exhibition Random Movements by Maribor painter of the younger generation Matija Bobičić. The exhibition Random Shifts explores recent trends in painting and will introduce Maribor audiences to a successful but lesser-known artist in the local environment. Bobičić’s paintings are defined by the expressive intuitiveness of the painterly gesture. The gestures are often rough, almost childlike in their direct expressiveness, but for this very reason they are clearly eloquent. Through the raw energy and brutal yet sincerely childlike immediacy of his works, Bobičić reminds us that painting can be undeniably contemporary, topical and insightful. The exhibition is supported by the Municipality of Maribor.
