Erasmus+

We are pleased to announce that the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., is a partner in the Erasmus+ KA2 project New Media 4 Lifelong Learning (Media4Life).

The consortium consists of a coordinator from Poland, Fundacja Atelier Spółdzielczości i Ekonomii Społecznej, and 4 partner organisations: the Chorzowskie Centrum Kultury, Poland, the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., Slovenia, CHAMPIONS FACTORY , Bulgaria, and Innovation Frontiers IKE, Greece.

Lifelong learning is a concept that encompasses a wide range of learning formats and is usually seen as education throughout an individual’s life. In our vision, new media for lifelong learning (“Media4Life”) is no longer just one aspect of education and training; it has to become a guiding principle of the educational context in today’s digitalized society.

In 2018, the EU Member States with the highest adult participation rates in learning were Sweden (29.2%), Finland (28.5%) and Denmark (23.5%). In contrast, five Member States had participation rates below 5%: Romania (0.9%), Bulgaria (2.5%), Croatia (2.9%), Slovakia (4.0%) and Greece (4.5%). Poland, with 5.7% participation, is also at the tail end of the EU, with only Slovenia slightly below the EU average at 11.4%. We therefore see a great need to provide more learning opportunities in which adults can participate and a great potential to promote lifelong learning.

The main objective of this project is to train educational staff with the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to work with older and adult learners, using new media in the lifelong learning process, to respond to contemporary challenges and promote social change.

We have developed the Media4Life concept to: 1) make better use of new media in the lifelong learning process when working with adults; 2) develop adult education with new resources; 3) raise the competences of educational staff and learners; 4) promote intergenerational dialogue.

In this way, we aim to create the preconditions for the development and acceptance of modern solutions in lifelong learning, using new media as a tool for social change.

The general objective of the “Media4Life” project will be pursued through the following specific objectives:

  • to create a space for the exchange of knowledge, experience and good practices in the field of adult learning;
  • to improve the understanding of the use of new media for lifelong learning for older people and adults among education staff from different countries;
  • to strengthen the role of older people in civil society by creating social dialogue and promoting participation, inclusion and belonging, civic and social competence;
  • to explore new approaches and find innovative ways of interaction between educational staff, pensioners, families of pensioners and, on this basis, to create a Handbook for Intergenerational Dialogue;
  • to create a sustainable international consortium aimed at disseminating the project results at local, national and international level.
