The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., will participate in a lecture by ecologist and conservationist Luko Šparl entitled: The Conservation Importance of Fungi – What can people learn from fungi?
Luka Šparl is an ecologist and conservationist, a member of several mushroom mycological societies, a teacher at the University for the Third Age and a long-time mentor of students at research camps all over Slovenia.
Do you ever wonder what all lives in the forest floor when you are walking in the woods? Do you ever notice the whitish tangle of fungi that spreads across the forest floor, and why people see certain types of fungi in the same places all the time. The lecturer will also explain what factors influence the occurrence of fungi in Slovenian forests and what impact forest management practices have on fungal growth. We will learn about the main factors behind the decline in diversity of certain fungal groups and how individuals can contribute to better fungal growth. We will discuss the measures we are taking at national level to protect fungi and how individuals can contribute to better fungal growth. There are a thousand questions and a thousand answers. We will learn all this and more in a lecture lasting one hour.
