Representatives of the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., will take part in the first Sustainability Research Symposium, with the aim of stimulating a dynamic forum for debate,
This will be an online and in-person event. The symposium will address the key role of sustainability practices in the scientific community. As researchers face global challenges, it is imperative to adopt environmentally responsible and socially just research methodologies. The symposium will address topics such as green laboratory practices, the inspiring role of grassroots movements, sustainable strategies for organisations and the crucial role of funders, always with an eye to the future. By promoting a culture of sustainability in science, we can reduce our ecological footprint, strengthen research integrity and ensure the long-term success of scientific research.
Participants will have the opportunity to interact with leading experts and share their experiences in sustainable science through a series of keynote presentations, panel discussions and interactive workshops. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange, this event aims to inspire scientists to adopt sustainable development as a core principle of their work.
This symposium will take place at EMBL in Heidelberg and virtually as part of the SuReSymp programme, which includes annual sustainability research symposia. It is organised in cooperation with EMBO, the network of Sustainable European Laboratories (SELs) and with the support of the European Union Climate Pact.
