EU House, Ljubljana

Representatives of the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., will participate in free education entitled “Out of the crisis with hope: Education for an active society and a safe climate.”

Children and young people are concerned about climate change and the environmental crisis, according to research abroad and surveys in Slovenia. They are not only crippled by concern as such, but also by a lack of support, knowledge, and trust in institutions, which negatively affects their emotional and mental state.

Education plays a key role in this. Educators equip children with values and knowledge about the climate and environmental crisis, help them establish a personal relationship with nature, and create awareness that change is possible and that our situation is not hopeless. At the appropriate age, children can be empowered to actively express their opinions on environmental issues.

Education and its role in our shared climate future will be the focus of free training sessions, where renowned experts will share their knowledge, including Dr. Beth Christie, director of Learning for Sustainability Scotland and lecturer at the University of Edinburgh, and Prof. Dr. Gregor Torkar, who lectures at the Faculty of Education at the University of Ljubljana. You will also hear about the practical aspects of implementing these topics by teachers.

The training is organized by PIC – Legal Center for Human Rights and the Environment. It is carried out as part of the ENRICH (Environment, Rights, Children) project, which is funded by the EU.
