Representatives of the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., will attend the conference “Rethinking Housing Together – Everyone deserves a place to call home“.
Across Europe, people are finding it increasingly difficult to secure affordable, sustainable and decent housing:
- More than a million people in Europe are homeless;
- around 125 million people cannot afford to heat their homes;
- housing prices and rents are rising to record highs.
That is why the EU has appointed a Commissioner for Housing and the European Parliament has set up a special committee focused on tackling the housing crisis. But this is not enough. The EU must put people’s right to housing before profit.
The Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament spoke to civil society representatives, academics and activists across the European Union about the challenges people face in housing and what the EU should prioritise in its upcoming affordable housing plan.
The hybrid conference and the discussions that follow will help to rethink housing and jointly shape our calls to the European Commission on housing.
