On Monday, 5 October 2026, the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia hosted the opening of the exhibition “The Best News from Around the World”, highlighting positive stories of global development, solidarity, and international cooperation. The event was organised by the SLOGA Platform in cooperation with the EPEKA Association as part of the Voices for Change project, co-funded by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia.

The exhibition opening was part of the event “From the Field to Policy”, dedicated to presenting the tangible results of Slovenia’s international development cooperation and humanitarian assistance. The event brought together representatives of government institutions, non-governmental organisations, and experts whose work contributes to improving living conditions for people and communities around the world.

The participants were welcomed by Marko Lotrič, President of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia, who emphasised the close connection between development, security, and peace, as well as the importance of incorporating field experience into policymaking. Max Zamani, Director of the SLOGA Platform, presented Slovenia’s role in international development cooperation, while representatives of the KROG Institute and Slovenian Caritas shared concrete examples of development projects contributing to long-term positive change in local communities.

Positive Stories That Change Our Perspective on the World

The exhibition “The Best News from Around the World” highlights that global developments are not defined solely by crises, conflicts, and inequalities, but also by numerous achievements, successful initiatives, and examples of international solidarity. It presents stories demonstrating how cooperation between organisations, institutions, and individuals can contribute to improved living conditions, greater social justice, and sustainable development.

At a time when negative news often dominates public discourse, it is especially important to highlight progress and good practices. Such stories do not diminish the seriousness of global challenges; rather, they encourage an understanding that positive change is possible and that civil society has an important role to play in making it happen.

Through its involvement in the event, the EPEKA Association contributed to raising awareness of the importance of international solidarity, cooperation, and active citizenship. The exhibition opening also provided an opportunity to strengthen dialogue between non-governmental organisations, policymakers, and the wider public.

The exhibition conveys a clear message: positive changes are happening around the world, and it is essential that we recognise, share, and draw inspiration from them to encourage further cooperation.

The event was organised as part of the Voices for Change project, co-funded by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia.
