The ART 4 INCLUSION project (A4I) is being developed in the midst of a situation that is challenging the European Union today: the pandemic caused by the COVID-19. Many social sectors are being affected by the impact it is having on social activity in general and on artistic and cultural activity in particular. In addition, the challenges already faced by the EU with regard to the effective inclusion and employability of young migrants are becoming more acute, in view of the increase in social emergency situations. In the face of these problems, art can be a tool for the expression and communication of individual feelings and social problems, to promote empowerment, dialogue and inclusion. Likewise, the richness of artistic disciplines must be put to use more than ever, and the public and institutions must be made aware of their importance in social life.

In this sense, the A4I project arises with the aim of promoting social and labour inclusion of young migrants and minorities (JMM) through art, to respond to the situation generated by the COVID-19. In order to achieve this objective, the following specific objectives have been set:

  • O.E.1) To promote the social inclusion of young migrants and minorities (JMM), through culture and art.
  • O.E.2) To promote the employability of young artistic professionals who have been affected by the situation arising from the COVID19.
  • O.E.3) To promote the participation of young migrants and minorities through culture and art.
  • O.E.4) To raise awareness among the general public of the importance of art and culture in the processes of social and economic development in the European Union

The A4I consortium will develop two main intellectual outputs to achieve the above objectives:

Intellectual Output 1: LEADER OF SOCIAL PARTICIPATION WITH ART FOR YOUTH

Despite the use of the arts as a methodological element to foster processes of participation and social inclusion of young migrants and minorities, there is no common guide that can be used in the different EU Member States to distinguish between the five main artistic disciplines of music, dance, theatre, circus and cinema. The guide will remedy this shortcoming. It aims to open up a range of activities for young people to stimulate their social inclusion process by offering practical educational resources that can be used by young people between 16 and 30 years of age. We will develop a guide of activities to promote participation and social inclusion of young people through dance, music, circus, theatre and cinema. The guide will contain basic elements adapted to the young population, with activities and educational resources useful in the process of participation and social inclusion in their community.

Intellectual Output 2: E-Artistic Domain

This is an online platform dedicated to migrant and minority youth and youth professionals. It consists of two main parts. The first is the E- EDUCATIONAL AREA, which will include activities from the Guide. The second is the PARTICIPATION AREA, an innovative section that will allow project beneficiaries to participate directly in the various activities developed within the project. It will have two sections: a YOUTH AREA, where young migrants and minorities will create videos related to the Guide, and an ART CAMPAIGN, where participating arts professionals will be able to share information through awareness-raising documentary videos related to their professional field, the benefits it brings to young migrants and minorities, and the impact the COVID19 health crisis has had on their professional sector.
