23 – 31 July, 2016
Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., participated in the youth exchange project BalsiKa 13-14: Religions’s Legacy On Genders And Tolerance, which took place in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, from 23 to 31 July.

The BalsiKa 13-14 Youth Exchange Project brought together 56 young participants aged between 16 and 25 and 16 leaders for nine days. The participants came from 14 different countries: France, Germany, Turkey, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Montenegro, Macedonia, Greece, Kosovo, Italy and Poland.

The themes of the project were:

  • stereotypes related to gender discrimination;
  • the link between history and religion and domestic violence;
  • tolerance of violence in the name of religion and the homeland in a broader sense (terrorism, hate speech, discrimination of any kind).

The project used a variety of methods: video screenings, short films, films, pedagogical games, questionnaires, meetings with experts, artistic activities.

In addition to achieving intercultural research, the project’s objectives were:

  • a personal view of the discrimination that still exists in the work environment, in wages, in politics;
  • changing certain habits and combating gender discrimination;
  • understanding and dealing with domestic and terrorist violence;
  • personal views and responses to hate speech and violence.
