Spectrum Saxophon Quartett, Maribor

The second concert in this year’s cycle Classic today? tomorrow? will be a performance by the Spectrum Saxophon Quartett on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m., at the Sodni stolp.

The Spectrum Saxophone Quartet is a young and dynamic ensemble from neighboring Austria. The members of the quartet are Stephanie Schoiswohl, Florian Bauer, Daniel Đunđuš and Severin Neubauer.

They met while studying classical and modern saxophone with Professor Gerald Preinfalk at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. Members received additional training in the field of modern music in collaboration with the renowned Vienna ensemble Klangforum Wien, as well as in the field of Jazz and popular music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.

The musicians are thus united not only by a common alma mater, but also by a long collegial friendship and involvement in projects from a wide variety of genres.

In addition to regular solo and chamber concerts, they are also regular members of the KUG-SAX-SIPPIA orchestra, are also active in pedagogy at various music schools in Austria, Stephanie also as a professor of classical saxophone at the Gustav Mahler Private University in Klagenfurt.

The guide in creating and choosing the repertoire is the extended range of saxophone sound colors provided by the quartet. The twisting between classical and contemporary saxophone music adds extra depth.

The members of the quartet were further educated as individuals or in chambers by eminent names such as: Philippe Geiss, Klaus Dickbauer, Klangforum Wien, Heinrich von Kalnein, Barbara Strack-Hanisch, Marcus Weiss, Ryo Noda, Arno Bornkamp, Angel Soria Diaz, Lars Mlekusch, Hans de Jong.

They have collaborated with various ensembles, including: Klangforum Vienna, Orjazztra Vienna, Philharmonic Orchestra Graz, Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Graz Composers Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra Zagreb, MASQ, Graz Saxophone Quartet.

They are recipients of several awards:
