Members of the EPEKA Association, Soc. Ent., will attend the Future of Work Conference organized annually by the Association of Slovenian Folk Universities.
The conference addresses the trends in business and this year it will focus on sustainable future. We are witnessing loud warnings from experts about the need to change our way of living and doing business. Sustainability is enshrined in all strategic documents of the European Union and Slovenia. So how can we incorporate sustainability into our business practices and what significant changes will be required?
Katja Šturm, the Head of the Department of Communication and Sustainable Development at Jezeršek Catering, believes that in the initial phase, it is crucial to involve a larger number of employees in the sustainability strategy. In collaboration with more than 30 employees, they have prepared a sustainable business strategy for the period 2021-2027, which promotes the development and implementation of innovative sustainable models. Among other practices, they advocate for the concept of zero waste and have obtained sustainability certifications. One of their projects, called “Gostinstvo je IN” (Hospitality is IN), includes a handbook of good sustainability practices for the development of the catering profession, with the aim of reducing food waste.
