The Association EPEKA. Soc. Ent., in cooperation with the Slovenian Mycological Museum, is organizing an interactive lecture on fungal microscopy on a special occasion – Einstein Day.
The event will be dedicated to the world of fungi and their exploration under a microscope. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about fungi, their structures, and the diversity that lies beyond the visible eye. The lecture will be accompanied by a practical demonstration of fungal biofluorescence, using UV lights and protective equipment to reveal the special visual effects that fungi create in the dark. The aim of the event is to stimulate curiosity, scientific thinking, and a sense of the natural environment among participants and to present fungi as an extremely important but often overlooked part of the ecosystem.
The event is part of a broader collaboration between the EPEKA Association, so.p., and the Mycological Museum of Slovenia in the field of environmental education, sustainability, and the promotion of science among young people.
The workshop will be led by Katarina Apostolides, a renowned mushroom expert and enthusiastic nature researcher.
The entire youth program is free of charge for EPEKA participants, as it is funded by the City of Maribor, the Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Youth, and the Ministry of Public Administration. Other partners who additionally support the program also contribute to its implementation.
