NIJZ
The NIJZ publishes an updated list of preventive measures to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Summary: The situation we are facing is very challenging and it is therefore particularly important that we act preventively and responsibly to limit the spread of COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2. It is important to stay at home and consult your doctor of choice by telephone and follow his/her instructions in case of signs and symptoms of illness (such as cold, malaise, muscle pain, fever, cough). Each of us can reduce the risk of infection and the spread of infection by taking the following measures:
Washing hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and water. If soap and water are not available,
disinfect your hands with a dedicated hand sanitiser. The ethanol content of the hand sanitiser should be at least 60%. Hand sanitiser is intended for external use only. Surface cleaners/disinfectants are not intended for cleaning/disinfecting the skin.
Do not touch the face (eyes, nose and mouth) with unclean/dirty hands.
Avoid close contact with people showing signs of infectious disease. Keep a safe distance of 1.5 metres.
Observe proper cough hygiene (cover mouth and nose with a paper handkerchief before coughing/sneezing or cough/sneeze into the upper part of the sleeve). Dispose of the paper handkerchief in the waste after each use and wash hands with soap and water afterwards.
Follow the rules of social distancing, i.e. do not socialise unnecessarily with people outside the household, keep a distance of at least 1.5 m or 2 m.
The use of a non-medical face mask is recommended: – for persons with symptoms or signs of covid-19 (malaise, cold symptoms, cough, fever, shortness of breath, headache, muscle aches, loss of smell or taste, sore throat), – for persons caring for a patient with suspected or confirmed covid-19 (in this case, the use of a protective mask is recommended), – for persons, persons caring for a person with risk factors for a more severe course of covid-19 who is not from the same household, – persons staying in a health facility, – persons using public transport, – persons staying in a confined space where people from different households are present and a minimum interpersonal distance of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained.
