Representatives of the Association EPEKA, a social enterprise, will participate in the online event “Roma Youth in the Spotlight: Promoting Rights, Inclusion, and Equality through Sustainable Development Goals.”
Across Europe and beyond, Roma youth are resisting deep-rooted anti-Gypsyism and discrimination based on ethnicity and origin. This event will highlight their efforts and leadership in achieving sustainable development goals, particularly in the areas of poverty, education, decent work, inequality, and justice.
The event will feature inspiring contributions from:
- Romina Grigore, Salzburg Seminar Fellow
- Petr Banda, member of the Council of Europe’s Advisory Council on Youth
- Bianca Galusca from FAGiC
- Sergen Gul, Romani Godi
- Thansis Mitrou, ActRom
- representatives of TernYpe and the UN Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY).
Two groundbreaking reports written by Fikrija Tair Selmani and Maria Atanasova highlighting the rights and leadership roles of Roma women will also be presented!
Highlights include:
- Presentation of special reports on Roma women and girls in Europe
- In-depth dialogues on discrimination based on work and origin
- Best practices of Roma youth movements
- Focus on key sustainable development goals for Roma youth
