The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., hosted representatives of the Slovak NGO DocUnion between July 13 and 20, 2025, as part of international mobility, who carried out a job-shadowing activity in our country.

The activity took place within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme and was aimed at deepening the understanding of the partner organisation’s work and exchanging good practices.

The organisation DocUnion was founded in 2011 in Bratislava by a group of Slovak lecturers. It focuses on raising awareness among adults about current global issues and the need to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Its activities include communication workshops and discussions on global challenges, training in media and information literacy, responsible journalism and global thinking for various target groups in Slovakia.

During their mobility, representatives from Slovakia directly monitored the work of the partner organisation EPEKA in its offices in Maribor, Ljubljana and in the field, where they were present at meetings with various stakeholders – from institutional partners and project collaborators to programme participants.

The aim of the visit was not only to gain new knowledge, but also to establish a solid international partnership, deepen Slovak-Slovenian cooperation and discuss global and local challenges – including preparedness for the negative consequences of climate change in the region.

Representatives of the EPEKA Association, so.p., presented the model of social entrepreneurship in Slovenia to the Slovak representatives and highlighted the concrete challenges faced by vulnerable groups. The discussion developed into an in-depth conversation about storytelling, addressing sensitive topics and communicating in the media and digital space.

The visit enabled the Slovak partner to meet not only with the management and teams in Ljubljana and Maribor, but also with direct participants in our programs for social inclusion and increasing employability among vulnerable groups, funded by the European Union. Together we are building a more inclusive, solidary and connected Europe.

The mobility and the entire project are funded by the European Union (EU). The views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the European Union or SAAIC. Neither the EU nor SAAIC are responsible for them.

The project is co-financed by the Erasmus+ programme, and the EPEKA programme is also supported by: the Slovenian Youth Office and the City of Maribor.
