As part of the pilot project “With Youth Work Against Youth Precarity”, the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., is preparing a series of workshops in the fall of 2025.

The project, co-financed by the Ministry of Education and the European Union, is being implemented in the period 2024–2026 and is aimed at empowering young people and reducing the incidence of precariousness in Slovenia.

The workshops are designed as a comprehensive program that guides young people through six interconnected modules. Their purpose is to raise awareness about the issue of precariousness, recognize rights and obligations, and develop competencies that help young people find decent work and build a stable career.

Workshop content:

  • Introduction to the concept of precariousness and its negative effects – young people learn about the definition of precariousness, typical forms and consequences for the individual, family and society.
  • Getting to know each other and strengthening group cohesion – through games of introduction and discussion, participants share their own experiences and build trust for further work.
  • Labor law – basics of the Employment Relations Act (ZDR-1), rights and obligations of workers and protection against discrimination and exploitation.
  • Examples of bad practices – analysis of real cases of precarious work, dispelling myths about “flexibility” and learning where to turn for help.
  • Preparation of individual plans – formation of personal goals, career plans and identification of obstacles, whereby young people learn to set SMART goals and plan steps for the future.
  • What else do I need to get a job? – practical skills for finding a job, preparing a CV, simulating an interview and strengthening self-confidence when entering the labor market.

Each set will also include materials, review questions, case studies and reflection tasks that allow young people to connect the acquired knowledge with their own experiences.

The project Against Youth Precariousness through Youth Work does not only view youth precariousness as a problem, but also sees it as an opportunity to develop new forms of youth work, networking and solidarity. In this way, we encourage young people to actively shape their career paths and contribute to creating a fairer and more inclusive labor market.
