PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Today, social marginalisation is seen as an impact factor of globalisation, unemployment, economic crisis, lack of education and capacity, poor culture and skills development. We are currently confronted with global issues related to social exclusion, together with their negative consequences on who is excluded and who is not. Social discrimination and exclusion in many cases leads to violence, crime, ghettos and disasters, as well as housing or gender discrimination. In the youth exchange programme we want to implement, young people from five countries will be involved in discussing the topic of social marginalisation, learning about its background and trying to find solutions to it. They will do this through an exchange of experiences. The project aims to raise young people’s awareness of the issue, to focus attention on the realisation of problems and solutions, and to highlight their expected duties, social activities and responsibilities. In addition, we want to draw society’s attention to the problems caused by social marginalisation and encourage them to take an active part. In the long term, we have set ourselves the goal of asking young people to be active in their tasks, to do something for their environment, themselves, the community and a better life. They need to feel the weight of their choices and the consequences of their actions; in this way they will become active, responsible and working citizens.
