The Association EPEKA, a social enterprise, and the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum (SEM) are organising the event “Let’s Unite! Promoting socially inclusive education on climate change”.

It will combine educational and artistic content and connect us to a rich heritage of traditional knowledge. The educational part will involve participants learning about four thematic areas

  • Permaculture and sustainable gardening
  • Herbalism and the use of medicinal plants
  • Preparation of traditional dishes
  • Packaging, recycling and sustainable use of resources.

The event will end with a tasting of the dishes prepared, combining knowledge and taste of local traditions. This will be followed by an artistic part aimed at activating the body, memories and experiences, using theatrical techniques, personal objects and photographs. Participants will be invited to bring memories to life and share them with others through movement, words and objects. The event will conclude with the filming of selected narratives touching on traditional practices:

  • Growing garden produce,
  • picking fruits in nature
  • the use of herbs,
  • preparing home-cooked meals and other memories linked to nature and community.

The event is aimed at all generations – but especially those who want to connect, engage in intergenerational dialogue and deepen their knowledge of sustainable practices.
