14 – 22 May, 2017
Kraiova, Romania

The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., is a partner in the project “ACT! – Active Citizenship Training”, which will take place in Kraiova, Romania, between the 14th to 22nd May 2017. We invite all interested to send us a motivational letter and take part in the youth mobility project.

The project brings 30 youth workers, leaders, trainers and staff from youth organisations from Romania, Macedonia, Poland, Greece, Croatia, Italy, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Turkey and Czech Republic in order to train and equip them with competences and tools on how to develop and run activities that aim to motivate and educate youth about (active) citizenship and participation in democratic and community life and at the same time promoting European citizenship and awareness of common European identity and values.

Key goals of the project:

  • To raise awareness and provide knowledge about citizenship in general and European citizenship in particular by exploring the concepts, their dimensions, contemporary meanings and understandings;
  • To encourage active participation of young people in social, political and economic life on local, national and European level in order to strengthen youth voice in Europe by using different tools for empowerment;
  • To foster the incorporation of European dimension in youth projects through promotion of European awareness, common European identity and European values;
  • To explore and analyse current situations and different models in 10 European countries regarding youth participation in democratic life and share experiences and good practices of supporting active youth participation;
  • To develop, practice and evaluate tools which aim at enhancing young people’s feeling of ownership and belonging to Europe, and discuss what role young people can play in Europe (including active participation in European organizations);
  • To foster mutual understanding, solidarity, intercultural learning and intercultural dialogue between people coming from different backgrounds and to provide opportunity for developing multiplying initiatives to be implemented in their respective countries;
  • To foster sustainable international cooperation, capacity and partnership building in the youth field working with citizenship education, European citizenship and youth participation;
  • To promote Erasmus+ Programme and Youthpass as recognition tool for non-formal and informal learning in youth work.

The working methodology of the training course will be based on non-formal, experiential and informal learning methods with strong encouragement of sharing personal experiences, knowledge and good practices that will aim to foster the personal, social and professional development of all participants. During the activity there will be few important formal theoretical presentations set up in non-formal way from the trainers in order to strengthen participants’ understanding of the themes covered. The project will also foster and serve as space for strong intercultural learning of participants by providing them with the opportunity to work together with people coming from different countries, backgrounds and cultures on common European topics and by organising intercultural evenings on which they will be able to learn more about the participating countries and cultures. The non-formal and experiential learning methods will be participant-cantered that will enable participants to learn from each other, but also to learn though their own experience and undertake their own analysis and conclusions. This approach will be furthermore enhanced by fostering the informal learning of participants by organizing thematic evenings that will bring them closer together and enable them to learn from each other in informal setting.

Advantage to participate on the project will be given to people with fewer opportunities facing social, economic, linguistic, geographical obstacles or cultural differences.
