20. – 22. april 2026
Brussels

In May, EPEKA members will attend an event organised by the European Accessibility Resource Centre (AccessibleEU) in collaboration with AccessAndGo-ABP asbl and with the support of equal.brussels.

The three-day educational meeting in Brussels is undeniably about the critical question of modern society: how to provide decent and adapted housing for all, which allows everyone to live independently, regardless of their physical limitations.

Housing issues are the cornerstone of social inclusion. At the event, experts and users will seek answers to the challenges faced by people with mobility disabilities and the elderly in finding a suitable home through practical examples, role simulations and interactive presentations of standards.

Detailed program by day:

  • April 20: Flexible Housing for Independence The  first day will be dedicated to the concept of “flexible housing”. They will discuss why the design of spaces, which can be changed according to the needs of the resident, is key to successful home care and long-term independence.
  • April 21: From Theory to Practice – Transforming Space The day will focus on technical aspects. How to turn a standard apartment into a safe and functional environment for a user in a wheelchair? They will present innovations in the field of equipment and construction interventions.
  • 22 April: Location and inclusive environment The final day will focus on the placement of housing in space – accessibility to public transport, parks and urban centres, allowing residents to participate fully in society.
