The EPEKA Association will also be holding a cycle of workshops, lectures and discussions in 2025 as part of the program Living Problems of Youth or Youth Autonomy.
The purpose of the entire program will be to facilitate the transition to adult life for young people, also by empowering them to be independent in the area of housing. The meetings will be aimed at gaining knowledge, exchanging experiences and understanding the key challenges that young people face in becoming independent. Through a variety of content, we will provide young people with insight into practical procedures, financial aspects, alternative options and the broader social contexts of housing conditions.
In the lecture Coliving: Advantages, Disadvantages, Practices, we will introduce participants to a modern model of community living that is rapidly developing in Europe in response to rising rental costs. Participants will learn how coliving combines private living units and shared spaces that encourage networking and mutual support. We will present the main advantages of coliving, such as reduced monthly costs, shared infrastructure and the possibility of establishing a wider social network. We will also discuss the challenges, among which shared rules, reduced privacy and sometimes unstable rental conditions stand out. Participants will learn about the differences between commercial coliving and non-profit models and the opportunities they offer young people. We will analyze examples of good practices from the Netherlands, Germany and Spain and consider how coliving could develop in Slovenia. In conclusion, we will highlight the key elements that young people need to pay attention to when choosing a coliving in order to ensure quality and safe living.
Due to the limited number of places, we ask you to register in advance at epeka@epeka.si or in person. The activity is co-financed by the City of Maribor and the Slovenian Youth Office.
