15 December, 2021
Judgement Tower, Maribor

The last concert of this year’s cycle of Classical today? tomorrow? will feature a concert of Dua ChitAria on Wednesday, 15 December 2021, at 7 in the Judgment Tower.

The duo is a newly formed ensemble and at the same time the only such duo in the field of chamber classical music in Slovenia. It consists of two academic musicians Astrid Kukovič (oboe) and Maja Vrbnjak (classical guitar).

They both have individually rich musical path in our fields; guitarist Maja is the recipient of numerous awards at international competitions and guitar festivals, and oboist Astrid regularly collaborates with many domestic and foreign orchestras (Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Teatro di San Carlo Napoli). They were united in the duo by the desire to continue creating something new. They want to present themselves to the general public in a rare chamber ensemble and bring classical music closer to people.

Despite the fact that the duo is young and at the beginning of its activities, in a year and a half since its inception they have performed at various music schools in Slovenia and thus presented themselves to future musical generations (GŠ Postojna, Maribor Conservatory, …) at the Lent festival (2020), on Egta Day (Guitar Teachers’ Association in Slovenia), and they also participate in international competitions across Europe.
