The performances of the Firšt trio delight audiences in Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia with a musical-theatrical walk through an eclectic concert schedule that sets new milestones in technical virtuosity and jazz invention, mockingly reworking well-known tunes from the repertoire of European classical music and connecting them with elements of stand-up, curiously looking for elements of musical humour and spectacle in them. The Firšt Trio consists of trumpeter Peter Firšt, pianist Leon Firšt and double bass player Miha Firšt. All of them are successful musicians who work in Slovenia and abroad as creators, authors, organizers and teachers in the field of classical, jazz, theater and popular music.

Composer and pianist Leon Firšt received his master’s degree in composition from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana under Prof. Dušan Bavdek. He has created more than 80 symphonic, chamber and solo compositions, which have been performed several times at concerts in Slovenia and around the world. He composes operettas, chamber operas, musicals, music for symphony orchestra, compositions for chamber ensembles. He has received several awards for his work, his compositions are often selected for obligatory compositions at various national competitions, and chamber and orchestral compositions are regularly performed by the most eminent Slovenian musicians (Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, RTV Orchestra, Slowind Quintet, Slovenian Philharmonic String Chamber Orchestra…). In 2017, the Municipality of Celje awarded Leon the “Crystal Coat of Arms” award for outstanding academic achievements. He is the recipient of the Prešeren Award of the University of Ljubljana in 2017. Leon is also an active jazz pianist and a regular member of the band Funk Fact.

Trumpeter Peter Firšt (1998) received his master’s degree from the Academy of Music in Zagreb, in the class of Prof. Marin Zokić, and also studied at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest through the Erasmus programme. Since 2019, he has been the solo trumpeter of the Synchron Stage Orchestra Vienna, where he collaborates with conductors such as John Williams and Hans Zimmer. He has recorded music for several blockbuster films, and with the orchestra they have also been nominated for the most prestigious film award, the Oscars. Since 2022, he has been employed by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra. As a guest solo trumpeter, he also collaborates with the Salzburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra. He is the artistic director and trumpeter of the Zagreb Brass Quintet. As a soloist, he has performed with several renowned orchestras, and during his studies he has been awarded at several internationally renowned competitions.

Miha Firšt studied at music academies in Ljubljana, Graz and Zagreb. He collaborates with several successful international orchestras and chamber ensembles. This year, his solo album “Nižje ne greš” was released, featuring compositions by contemporary Slovenian composers. He is the initiator and coordinator of the Ambassador of Culture educational programme, the author of a series of essays on cultural and artistic education, the author of lectures on media literacy and critical information processing, and he was also a lecturer at the University of the Third Age in Celje. He also excels in the theater, as he has participated in several theater and musical-stage performances as an actor, composer and producer. Miha Firšt is the director and artistic director of the music programs of the Celje House of Culture, the central non-governmental cultural institution in the region, and the executive producer of the musical Veronika Deseniška, the most famous Celje cultural production of recent decades. In 2019, he received the Celje Star Award for outstanding achievements in the field of culture.
