A helpline has been set up to support anyone facing hardship during the COVID-19 epidemic.

Experienced psychologists, psychotherapists and other mental health professionals will be available 24 hours a day, every day of the week on the freephone number 080 51 00. The helpline was created in cooperation with the National Institute of Public Health, health centres across Slovenia, the Slovenian Psychological Association, the Slovenian Red Cross, the Slovenian Psychotherapy Association, the Samarijan Confidential Phone, the Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth – TOM telefon.

In order to relieve the burden and provide psychosocial support to individuals who are in distress due to the current situation, a number of organisations that had already provided telephone assistance in the first wave joined the common number.

The phone is designed for short conversations for:

  • emotional support to help manage anxiety, fear, anger and other emotional states and related
  • reactions; support for sufferers and relatives of people with COVID-19;
  • support for the loss of a loved one due to COVID-19;
  • support in coping with job loss, waiting for work or difficulties related to working from home;
  • recommendations and support in balancing work and family life;
  • support in coping with personal difficulties and difficulties in interpersonal relationships during
  • isolation; support with other challenges arising from the current situation.
