Online Event (Webinar)

Association EPEKA will participate in an important international webinar titled “European Affordable Housing Plan: How Collaborative Housing is a part of the solution to the housing crisis”, organized by the Network of Cities for Collaborative Housing (NETCO). The event is dedicated to exploring innovative solutions to the growing housing shortage in Europe, with a specific focus on how community-led and collaborative housing models can become a key pillar of future housing policies.

The housing crisis in Europe is becoming one of the greatest social challenges of our time, as more people, especially youth and vulnerable groups, struggle to afford safe and decent housing. The European Affordable Housing Plan represents an ambitious framework encouraging member states to increase investments in non-profit and social housing. The webinar will focus on integrating “Collaborative Housing” models, such as housing cooperatives and co-housing projects, into this European plan.

The NETCO network emphasizes that collaborative housing is not just about having a roof over one’s head; it also promotes social inclusion, intergenerational solidarity, and sustainable urban development. Members of Association EPEKA will actively follow best practices from abroad during the event, which could be transferred to our local environment, thereby contributing to the development of a more just housing policy in Slovenia.

Key discussion points will include:

  • Presentation of the core guidelines of the European Affordable Housing Plan.
  • The role of local authorities in supporting bottom-up housing initiatives.
  • Financial and legal mechanisms for launching collaborative housing projects.

Participating in such educational events allows us as an NGO to actively shape the dialogue on issues that directly impact the quality of life for our youth and the wider community.
